How transfer works

Most transfers follow the same four steps—whether you’re coming from a big registrar or a local provider.

1
Unlock & get the code

At your current registrar, disable transfer lock and copy the authorization (EPP/auth) code.

2
Start with us

In our client area, choose domain transfer, enter the name and code, and pay the transfer fee (often includes a one-year renewal).

3
Approve the emails

Watch the admin contact email on the domain—you’ll get messages to confirm the move. Approve promptly to avoid delays.

4
We finalize the move

After the losing registrar releases the domain, it appears in your account. DNS can be updated before or after transfer.

Why transfer your domain?

One login for domains and hosting, fewer renewal surprises, and support that understands your full stack.

Simple process

The client area walks you through each step. Stuck on a lock or code? Our team helps you interpret registrar messages.

Keep your time on the clock

Transfers typically add a year to your registration period. You don’t lose the months you already paid for.

Support when you need it

DNS, redirects, email records—we help you point the domain to the right services after the transfer completes.

Before you start
  • Unlock the domain at your current registrar and note any transfer restrictions (recent registration, disputes).
  • Have the EPP/auth code ready; without it the transfer cannot proceed.
  • Confirm the domain’s admin email is correct and you can access it—approval links are sent there.

Transfer FAQ

The transfer itself does not change your DNS unless you update it. Keep existing nameservers until you’re ready to switch.

Many transfers finish within five to seven days after approval, depending on the losing registrar. Some TLDs can differ slightly.

Usually the domain must be active and not in redemption. Renew at your current registrar first if it has expired, then start the transfer.
